Ostrich Wing Awning Load Bar Fitting Guide

Important: When your Ostrich Wing Awning is new, the canvas is quite rigid. With use, the canvas will ‘relax’.

So when opening and closing the Ostrich Wing Awning for the first time and until the canvas relaxes’ it is very important to make sure the hook tensioning the canvas is UNHOOKED and the canvas does not catch on the centre pivot point.

It may be necessary to persuade the canvas upward at the pivot point when opening and closing the awning. Failure to ensure the canvas is free of the pivot point when the awning is being opened and closed may result in damage to the canvas.

After a time the canvas should slide over the pivot point with ease but it is still necessary to ensure it is free. The hook tensioning the canvas should always be UNHOOKED when opening and closing the awning.

WARNING

The Ostrich Wing Awning is primarily a sun shade device. It is capable of handling a reasonable wind, but should always be stowed or anchored at night or in the event of a heavy wind. The single drop down pole does assist with stability in the wind and an additional 2 poles can be added.

WHATS IN THE BOX

  • 1 x Ostrich Wing Awning
  • 2 x L-Brackets
  • 1 x M6 Track Plate
  • 4 x Stud Plates
  • 1 x Leading Arm Support bracket
  • Fasteners

WHAT THE PARTS LOOK

Step 1

Remove the plastic end caps from the edges of the load bars. Slide three of the provided M8 Bolts into the nut slot and replace the end caps. Attach the L-Brackets to the Load Bars. Tighten both brackets into place and loosely fasten two stud plates onto each L-Bracket.

Step 2

Measure the distance from the center of one L-Bracket to the center of the second L-Bracket. This will be the distance that the center of your M6 track plate needs to be from the center of the pre-attached M8 Track plate on the back of your awning. Mark the back of the canvas bag on the nut slot groves, use a sharp object to make two holes for the provided 6mm bolts to go through. Slide the two M6 square nuts into the marked position and attach the M6 Track plate using the flat washers provided between the canvas and the track plate.

Step 3

Attach the leading arm support bracket to the opposite side of the rear load bar. We advise that two people work together for this step. Slide your Ostrich Wing Awning onto the stud plates from top down.

Once you are confident that your awning is horizontal, tighten all remaining nuts. Open your awning to check that you are happy with its height and horizontal positioning. You can loosen the stud plates and make adjustments if necessary

Final Steps

When opening the awning for the first time, release buckle strap and ensure the front hook on the leading arm is un-hooked. Be careful. Check that the fabric doesn’t snag on the main bracket.
